Matsumoto Newsroom - All News
Hello Mustang Families!
My name is Kristi Frankina. I'm excited to join you as the Principal this year. I have served the Evergreen community in multiple roles since 2000. I am the parent of two children, a freshman at UNLV, and a junior at Oak Grove High School. I am passionate about helping all students become the leaders of tomorrow, by helping them develop academic, social-emotional, and 21st century skills today. This school year will be different from any experience we have had. The teachers and staff are hard at work preparing a high quality learning experience for your students.

Answering your questions: This year looks very different. You will have many questions. First visit our school website at Matsumoto.eesd.org the Evergreen FAQ page at eesd.org/safetogether to see if your questions can be answered there. If you still have unanswered questions, please go to matsumoto.eesd.org/askmatsumoto. This is a way that you will always be able to ask questions and let me know about your concerns.
Student Engagement: We will send out a weekly parent newsletter called the "Mustang Roundup" to inform you of everything going on each week. We WILL have some fun, interactive things planned for the year - virtual challenges, spirit days, and opportunities for social interaction.
Set a Positive Tone! As a parent, I set the tone for how my kids view distance learning. My husband and I have discussed the pros and cons of what is going on in the world, privately. With our kids, we discuss their worries, but help them to frame their thinking in a positive way. We teach them to advocate for themselves by asking questions, communicating with their teacher, and letting us know what help they need.
Welcome Kinders and New Families: Last but not least, I want to extend a warm welcome to our new families. I know this is a challenging way to start school and we will be communicating with you directly in the coming weeks to help you navigate this new frontier.
I can't wait to "see" everyone again. Virtual hugs and high fives to everyone in our Matsumoto Family!
Mrs. Kristi Frankina
