Dear Cedar Grove Families,
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a fabulous summer. The 2019-2020 school year brings a lot of new excitement and passion for teaching and learning. As principal of Cedar Grove, I am looking forward to working as a community to build on our school culture that supports student learning, collaboration, and parent involvement.
Cedar Grove is committed to life-long learning. Throughout the summer, our dedicated educators have participated in professional development opportunities focused on Deeper Learning, Social Emotional Learning, and Project Based Learning. We are looking forward to implementing our new knowledge and providing authentic learning opportunities for our students every day. Cedar Grove is a community that values the importance of these essential life skills, where we communicate, collaborate, think critically, work creatively and contribute.

BEGINNING OF THE YEAR REMINDERS
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21, 2019.
All students in grades 1st-6th begin at 8:30 and are dismissed at 2:35 daily except on Thursdays, which are minimum days, unless otherwise noted.The minimum day dismissal is at 1:17.
The first minimum day will be Thursday, August 29, 2019.
August 21-September 6 8:30-11:50 (No Lunch)
***Kindergarten will be half day from August 21 to September 6
The first full day is Monday, September 9 (please plan accordingly)
Starting September 9 for Kindergarten 8:30-2:20
Regular Day (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday)
Minimum Day (Thursdays, unless otherwise noted) 8:30-1:00
PRINCIPAL & PTA COFFEE, AUGUST 21 at 8:45. At this time, we will share upcoming events planned for the 2019-2020 school year and how we can work together to embrace the opportunities of this new and exciting year. Hope to see you there!
COMMUNICATION between home and school is essential.By reading the newsletter, parents and students can stay informed on what is happening at Cedar Grove.The newsletter can be viewed on our website and copies are also available in the front office. Last year, we transitioned to the Parent Portal system to collect emergency contact information and communication preferences. Please take a few minutes to review and update your emergency information. Classes will be posted at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20. Due to increased enrollment, we are anticipating class adjustments during the first two weeks of school.
SAFETY Please help us maintain a safe environment for all students at Cedar Grove by driving slowly in the parking lot.Please use all available spaces in the parking lot and never park in the yellow or red curb area.When picking up students you must wait in your vehicle at the yellow curb; do not leave your car unattended. We ask that you park in a designated parking space or outside on the street if you need to leave your vehicle. We encourage our families to walk to school daily.
VISITOR WAITING AREA In order to ensure the safety of all students, Cedar Grove is a closed campus.Please wait in the designated Waiting Areas during drop-off and dismissal.Your child will walk to meet you there.If you would like to enter campus, please sign in at the office and get a visitor's pass.
SUPERVISION Morning supervision begins at 8:15 everyday. Students should not enter the campus until supervision begins.Once again this is not safe, so please arrange for them to arrive at 8:15 a.m. and not before this time.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT Back to School Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 10. More information will be sent home with your child during the first week of school.
OFFICE HOURS The school office will reopen on Wednesday, August 14 at 8:00 a.m. and we will begin taking new registrations at that time. The office is closed at 4:00 p.m.
