Dear Dove Hill Sixth Grade Families: Honoring the promotion of our 6th graders has been a concern since the day school abruptly closed on March 13 when our Shelter In Place orders took effect. The promotion celebration marks the transition to middle school and sets up continued future success. This year, we are faced with balancing Dove Hill tradition with everyone's safety. Due to safety concerns, no district school sites will be hosting car parades. These historic times have allowed us to think creatively about how to honor your children as they transition to middle school. With that said, our team has taken extraordinary measures to create a wonderful lasting video promotion for you and your children. Please mark your calendar for June 11 as originally planned. We are so excited to share and present your students at this time. PROMOTION CEREMONY: We will hold a virtual ceremony/recognition on Thursday, June 11 @ 8:30 a.m. The ceremony will stream online and follow our traditions as close as possible. Every student's name will be read like our traditional ceremony. The link and more details will be sent in a future email and published on our webpage in time for you to share with family and friends. For now, save the date and time as we prepare to celebrate your child's time at Dove Hill School. PROMOTION CERTIFICATES Promotion certificates and some special parting gifts will be available for pick-up beginning Thursday,, June 11 and will continue through June 12. Your child will need to return textbooks and the school-issued Chromebook (if he or she borrowed one) at the same time. If applicable, honors and other awards will also be included in the packet. You will receive a more exact schedule in a subsequent email that outlines all of the specifics. -Again, we will collect textbooks and chrome books at the time of certificate pickup. Thank you for your patience and flexibility during this challenging and unique time. While this time in history presents a living history for sure, we hope that this video creates long lasting memories for your family. Reach out to your child's teacher for further information regarding this event after we have sent all the details to you. Thank you again for your patience during this unusual time. Sincerely, Linda Mora, Principal

As we reach mid way of the school year it is critical that emergency cards be updated with current information. The staff uses these cards to contact parents in the event of an emergency. Moreover, students will only be released to the people listed on the emergency card. If your phone number or addresses changes, please notify the office immediately. If you have already registered with "Parent portal" and have updated your contact information we thank you. We encourage all parents to register on Parent portal at www.eesd.org or on our school web page and click on parent portal.

ABSENCES AND TARDIES Dove Hill conforms to state policies for excused and unexcused absences and tardies. Our district also has a Phone Call-Out system that will call a student's home when he or she is absent. Whether it is an excused or unexcused absence, the system calls to add another layer of accountability in the whereabouts of a student. However, it is still very important that you call us to let us know if your son or daughter is ill so we can mark him or her as an excused absence. TARDIES please do your very best to get your son or daughter to school on time. It is important for him or her to get off to a smooth start. It is also important to their classmates and teachers. Being to school ON TIME is respectful and needed when there are so many students to account for and so much to learn each day. Thank you to all the students who come to school on time every day except when ill.
