Have you noticed the fence art up at the bus loop? BE KIND is not just a catch phrase here, it's something we need to strive for as a school community. Thank you to a group of dedicated parents who donated this sign in our school colors. It was a fun project to help put together. There will be a similar one put up on the fence down by the service gate.

Our picnic table umbrellas came at just the right time with the weather getting warmer. They give the students much needed shade from the sun out there on the black top. Thank you to all who participated in the cookie dough fundraiser earlier this year, as this allowed us to purchase our new umbrellas and the kids look so happy out there sitting under them!

Dear Carolyn Clark Community, We are third graders from Carolyn Clark Elementary School and the third grade classes completed a project that we hope increases awareness about hunger. We want to do this because in the USA some kids do not have enough food. One out of three children are at risk of hunger. According to an article that we read, some kids have to split little amounts of food. If kids are hungry, they will not have energy and can't concentrate at school the next day. You can help us by donating food or money to the Second Harvest Food Bank. Second Harvest Food Bank provided 55,270,088 meals in 2018. So if you donate just one dollar, it will for sure count too! You can also volunteer at the food bank. You have to be 14 years old and with a parent, or if you're 16 you can do it alone. We hope you learned about hunger and how you can help. Click on the headline for more... Sincerely, Jessica and Shaanvi

As an alternative to sweet treats in the classroom, the school would like to encourage items like books and pencils for celebrations. Non-food rewards and incentives should be used as the first choice to encourage positive behavior.

Parents of 6th graders - you will need to provide documentation that your child had a Tdap (whooping cough) booster shot given on or after 7 years old. Our goal is to have ALL 6th grade students provide this documentation before the end of May. If you haven't done so already, check your child's immunization record or call your physician to find out when they last had a Tdap vaccination. Once the shot is completed, bring in the immunization record to the school office so we can document that the requirement has been completed. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL SUMMER TO COMPLETE THIS REQUIREMENT.

Well, you will have to do it for a while to establish the routine. But over time you might find that you have to change it up to keep it fresh, or add new expectations for changing situations for example, learning to play an instrument, or adding a pet to the family. Should kids just behave because they're earning a sticker? Of course not! A point or sticker is just a token. The real payoff is the positive interaction.

School zones are put in place to ensure the safety of children in and around schools. While class is in session, drivers are responsible for maintaining safety and awareness on the streets surrounding schools. All children should be able to walk to and from class without fear of being hit by passing vehicles.

Box tops are great for schools as our school receives 10 cents for each qualified box top. Each box top must show it's expiration date and not be expired, and there is a 4 letter code on the top right-hand corner that must be seen. Send your box tops into Office and earn money for our school.
